For our vacation this year my family went to Pelican lake by Orr Minnesota for some fishing and relaxation. We went for a whole week. I brought my mom along too. She is 79 years old and still fishes!
Here's a snapshot of all of us....
We arrived on saturday, and after we got unloaded I was sitting around the fire ring by our cabin with my family when I got a very pleasant surprise. My brother pulled up with his family into our cabin driveway! Apparently Mitch had planned to surprise me for a couple months. Mitch, his wife Anita, and sons Matthew, Aaron, and Ryan just showed up!
Here's a picture of their family. The kid on the left with the brown shirt is a friend of Aaron's. Nicklaus ...
The next day me and Mitch went out casting shorelines in the morning and I caught this huge pumpkinseed on an x-rap, it was just a hair under the 10" mark!
That same day Aaron caught this 19" bucketmouth and 29" northern...
We soon figured out that northerns and LM bass were easy to catch. The crappies, bluegills, and perch were plentiful, not huge, but ok. Smallies were hard to come by though. We only caught a few including this 19" pig caught by Matt...
We caught alot of nice fish that week. Here is a taste of the action...
My mom gets a sunny
Here's a bucketmouth I caught. I caught many between 16.5 and 17.5".
Here's a couple bass my son Lucas caught right off the dock. 16.5 and 17.5. These bass were in the tiny cove behind him on the first picture. He was obsessed with catching 'em. I didn't think he would but he caught the first using a Chatterbait and the second using a Skitter Pop. You should have heard him scream when he got "fish on"!!!
I brought Ryan and Lucas out trolling for northerns in the bay one day when the weather was kinda icky. They must have caught 15 pike in just a couple hours. Here's a picture of two they caught at exactly the same time...
Here's Lucas with a 29" pike. Again he was screaming his head off!!!
Ryan with a gator...
Here's me with a largemouth just under 19"...
